Rain Saints are temporary human forms created when heavy rain falls through a disturbed Fortera field.
They most often appear near:
- source scars
- battlefield ruins
- places of mass disappearance
- damaged Éterlumin installations
- buildings where a powerful event was never resolved
Water gathers around an invisible pattern and briefly takes the shape of a person.
What they do
A Rain Saint may walk the same path repeatedly, knock on a sealed door, hold out an object that is no longer present, wait beneath a window, carry an unseen burden, or stand where a body was never recovered.
They are not conscious spirits. They do not speak or judge. They respond to matching actions. Open the door they are approaching, place the missing object in their hands, or speak the name associated with the pattern, and the sequence may change.
Touch
Touching one can force a fragment of sensation into the mind: wet powder, a child's fingers, the smell of lamp oil, panic behind a locked door, the last view from a sinking deck. Rain Saints vanish when the rain stops, leaving no body and little physical trace.
Most communities leave their path clear. Standing where a Rain Saint attempts to walk can cause the pattern to repeat through the living person instead.
At the table
A Rain Saint can serve as a clue, a memorial, or a warning that a place is still carrying an unresolved event.
